NEW NATIONAL WHIPPET RACING FEDERATION.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Originally known as the NWRF<\/strong> for many years. Founded in 1976<\/strong> by a group of<\/strong> 10<\/strong> like-minded people interested in promoting ‘better organised Open race meetings. The aim was to ensure better monetary rewards for its members. The First Open<\/strong> Event The<\/strong> Founders Trophy<\/strong> was held at Colnebridge Wrc<\/strong> on 21st November 1976. 185 yards at yard per lb. Guaranteed Prize Money \u00a3100. The Founders Trophy Open <\/strong>was won by J Houghton 29lb<\/strong> Fawn Dog Maskouri.<\/strong><\/p>

The 1st NWRF Straight Championships<\/strong> was held on the 9th October 1977<\/strong> at Meden Valley Wrc<\/strong>. Sup Winners Dog Section Nch Ch-Ch Maskouri <\/strong>and Bitch Section winner Nch Ch-Ch Singing Wind. <\/strong>This was shortly followed by the 1st NWRF Bend Championships <\/strong>on the 29th of October 1977. <\/strong><\/p>

The first six NWRF\u00a0 Bend Championship<\/strong> was not run to a Supreme Nch Ch-Ch<\/strong> Dog or Bitch. It was decided by the NWRF officials that after Winning the class title Nbch. The Whippet had done enough and was not to be over raced. In 1983<\/strong> things changed 32lb<\/strong> Fawn Bitch Nch Ch-Ch Roller<\/strong> Coaster<\/strong> became the first Bend Nch Ch-Ch<\/strong> owned by Julie & Steve Bateson.<\/strong><\/p>

The Federation<\/strong> secretary was Mr G<\/strong> K Wigfield<\/strong> (Sheffield), Other founder members were Mr Phil Henson<\/strong> (Sheffield), Mr<\/strong> Vin Angel <\/strong>(Sheffield), the late Mr A Ward <\/strong>(Maltby), Mr\u00a0Neville Burkinshaw <\/strong>(Sheffield), Mr<\/strong> Keith Robinson<\/strong> (Bradford), Mr\u00a0Harry Godber<\/b> (Sheffield) and Mr Brian Williams(Sheffield). <\/b>Shortly after the initial set-up of the NWRF. The late\u00a0Peter Stienlet <\/b>(Newcastle), Ritchie Cooper <\/b>(Newcastle) and Cliff Glaves <\/strong>joined the committee.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
